Job Offer

CDL Driver, Driving Motorhome

$1,250-$3,000 per week.  Temporary

Professional RV-er and Grandpa, too-

Looking for a seasonal, Class A CDL truck driver who wants a more laid back schedule and that can act as a Grandpa-figure, too. The job will be driving my son in a motorhome to different farms across the country where he will be planting corn mazes. The motorhome is built on a class 8 Freightliner truck chassis and pulls an enclosed trailer with a tractor and planter. There is the option for a driver to take his wife along and travel as a couple. The motorhome is 41 ft long and has a private bedroom in the back with a queen bed for the driver. So in a sense, I am looking for a retired truck driver who wants to go RVing and travel the country.

We are interested in hiring someone who can be a mentor and provide some assistance with equipment to my son, Justin. Justin is a clean-cut, responsible 18 yr old young man. He is an Eagle Scout and has grown up traveling the country doing corn mazes his whole life. I am looking for someone who is clean in appearance and who does not drink or smoke and would be willing to drop my son off at church or attend church with my son on Sundays. I am looking for someone who would be comfortable visiting with customers (the farmers for whom we plant) just to be friendly with them, not necessarily for business purposes.

In the past, I hired an older gentleman who did this for my older son Kaleb, and he became like a grandpa. It was a really neat experience for the both of them. We’re hoping to repeat that experience.

The combination truck and trailer is over 70ft long, so it would be similar in length to a semi. The job requires a full class A CDL and medical card. I am looking for someone with a good deal of trucking experience and clean driving record. Someone with some farming experience would be helpful as well. Some responsibilities would include maintaining or helping to maintain the truck and equipment and helping to get and prepare food so that Justin can get as much field work accomplished as possible.

I would like to find someone who can travel for about 4-6 weeks at the end of May and into June. The drive-times between mazes varies from 30 min to a couple of days away, but most tend to average about 4-6 hrs apart. While the maze is being planted, you can relax. Most of the farms we travel to are really nice and safe places.
